Bio

Dani Standley (born October 14, 1987) is a New York-born sculptor and photographer. Her work often deals with heartache and trauma in conjunction with gender and sexuality. Standley attends Indiana University East under the guidance of the skilled painter Ann Kim and the adept sculptor ceramist Carrie Longley. Upon graduation Standley will attend a graduation program in the arts.

Standley’s love of art began as a child in her aunt and uncle’s care at the Storm King Art Center in New York. Her uncle was a groundkeeper at the museum. Her three-dimensional works are generally mix media with the framework molded from clay or papier-mâché. While Standley’s photographs tend to be bleak in nature and portray misshapen figures, Standley takes intimate photographs of friends and family. However, the majority of her photographs are self-portraits in which she portrays herself as a twin; the closeness and connection twins share fascinates her.
